R U OK? Day is next week on Thursday 9th September, but please don’t wait until then to check in with others.

Do you really know how the people in your world are going? Life’s ups and downs happen to all of us, but add the anxiety involved with a pandemic and the chances are people you know might be really struggling. Your genuine support can make a difference whatever they are facing, big or small. In fact, just simple, random acts of kindness touch people’s hearts and make them feel better about others and the world around them.

Indeed, the message from the R U OK? Day organisers is don’t wait until someone’s visibly distressed or in crisis: make a moment meaningful and ask them how they’re really going.

To help you hold meaningful conversations, R U OK? has developed the following FREE resources.

If you find that you or the person you are talking to is in real trouble, please ask them to see their GP as their first port of call. There are also other organisations that can help, such as:
• Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636
• Lifeline: 131 114
• Kids Helpline: 1800 551 800
• NSW Mental Health Line: 1800 011 511
• Suicide Callback Service: 1300 659 467
