NSW Government funding to upgrade Crown lands facilities across Goulburn

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman has announced the NSW Government will deliver $703,218 funding to improve Crown land reserves and community facilities across the Goulburn electorate.

“Crown reserves provide land for recreation, community organisations and facilities, and protect our environment including habitat for native plants and animals,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

Yass Valley Mayor Allan McGrath said it was fantastic to see so many local Crown reserves benefiting from the funding.

“One of the most exciting projects is the revitalisation of Bowning Recreation Ground, using $155,000 to demolish the two existing amenities blocks to construct a new, combined amenities block,” Mayor McGrath said.

“This is a great win for the local cricket team, the Bowning Buffaloes, and locals who enjoy using the oval, cricket net, amenities and picnic shelter.”

In addition to the Binalong improvements, the following projects have also been funded under the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund:

  • Victoria Park in Yass will receive $50,000 towards pre-planning work for new amenities building and other proposed upgrades

-Gundaroo Common will receive $4,400 towards weed control.

There will also be weed control initiatives across the following areas in the Yass Valley:

  • $3,000 will go towards control of St John's Wort at vacant land opposite Gilbert’s Grave in Binalong
  • $3,000 will go towards control of Blackberry at Yass Cemetery
  • $1,500 will go towards control of Blackberry at Joe O'Connor Park, Yass
  • $2,250 will go towards control of Blackberry, Scotch Thistle and Variegated Thistle at the Old Yass Tip.
