One of the most difficult issues any employer faces is how to attract and retain talented, motivated workers. On the attraction side of the coin there’s issues such as working hours, salary and tangible benefits to consider, and on the other side there’s issues such as attractive training and promotional opportunities.

The South Australian Wine Industry Association’s “National Wine Industry Salary and Benefits Survey” is the only wine industry-specific salary survey in Australia, and may help you to benchmark salaries and benefits in order to attract and retain key talent.

This year 61 wine industry positions are being surveyed across the Australian wine industry. This includes roles in winemaking, viticulture, warehouse, sales, finance, marketing, human resources, administration and other positions typically not covered by any Modern Awards.

In addition, market data for positions in hospitality, events/functions and wine club management will be collected. This year’s survey also features a new position, Head chef/Senior chef in response to industry feedback.

Survey participants get a discount on the price of the Survey Report, as are members of state wine industry associations.

The survey includes a separate report for small business (defined as business with revenue of <$10M per annum). This allows smaller wine businesses to understand how they are positioned for recruiting and retaining employees.
