The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) is the peak body supporting almost 1,000 Men’s Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male-based community development organisations.

AMSA was established in 2007 by the Australian independent community-based Men’s Sheds to represent, support and promote the Men’s Shed movement. It was founded on the principle of sharing information between sheds and those communities wishing to establish and operate a Men’s Shed. It acts as a central hub for information exchange.

The Men’s Shed movement aims to promote men’s health programs, encourage social inclusion, and highlight the need for meaningful activities to be available for males within their communities.

There are two Men’s Sheds in the Yass Valley:
The Yass Valley Men’s Shed at 1428 Yass Valley Way, Yass. The shed is open on Tuesday from 9am to noon, Thursdays and Saturdays from 1:30pm-4:30pm. The activities undertaken include wood and metal work, garden (including the development of a bushtucker garden), social and information events. For more information, please contact Wayne Stuart on 0419 292 022.

The Gundaroo Men’s Shed is located at 59 Cork Street, Gundaroo Park, Gundaroo. The Shed is open on Thursdays from 10am to 3pm, and the activities include woodwork and community activities. For more information, please contact Rick Andrews on 0429 847 680.
