Meet Your Neighbours – Mitchell and Kirsty from Yass Valley Bakery

Last week on the Yass Valley Noticeboard there was a picture of the biggest Vanilla Slice this side of the Rio Grande. It had been made as a birthday cake, and the post thanked Mitchell and Kirsty from the Yass Valley Bakery for going above and beyond to create the unusual cake and saving the person from a “bloody enormous birthday disaster”. So, here’s a little bit of information about these busy, intrepid bakers:

Where do you live, and why do you love it there?
Mitchell: Yass, Amaroo place born and bred local.
Kirsty: I moved here eight years ago from the Southern Highlands.

What do you do for a living?
Mitchell: Baker.
Kirsty: Retail Manager.

What drew you to work in a bakery?
Mitchell and Kirsty: It’s a family-owned business.

What gives you the greatest joy in your job?
Mitchell and Kirsty: Creating yummy goods for our community: it’s a passion.

What are your hobbies?
Golf, photography when we can and have time. We have two beautiful young children who we work around. Spending time with family and friends when we can.
