Julie Jefferson has been living in Gundaroo for 22 years, and says it’s the community, the friendships, and the warm welcome given to people who visit the historical village on the weekends that make this a very special place to live.

Julie worked in the Finance sector for over 20 years, and this gave her unique insight into the private, not for profit, and government sectors. However, since November 2020 Julie has been working for the Gundaroo Out of School Hours program on a casual basis, and she’s also completing a Doula course, something that she’s extremely excited about.

For those not in the know, Doulas are professional birthing assistants who provide physical and emotional support to women and their partner during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. Julie explains “I've always wanted to be involved within the birthing industry, however, I felt I couldn't do this when my children were younger. Last year I was finally able to commence this course. I want to be there to support my clients in all aspects of their pregnancy and birth. To support them both emotionally and physically during their birthing process.”

Julie believes in contributing to the Gundaroo community, and over the years she has been involved with the P&C as Treasurer, Scouts (both on committee and as a parent helper), Gundaroo Social Soccer (as part of the original committee) and more recently with the Gundaroo Music Festival.

For those contemplating a move to Gundaroo, Julie says “It is a lovely community where people look out for each other. Our children are safe and can play in freedom. Our local school has some lovely programs, we have an amazing five-star restaurant “Grazing”. There’s also Gundog estate for wine tastings and catch ups, a pizza place where you can BYO and a local pub where you can catch up with your friends.”
