Last Saturday 21st May 2022 the Federal Election took place, and as a result a new Labor government led by Anthony Albanese was sworn in on Monday morning 23rd May.

The Australian Electoral Commission conducts the official Tally Room, and you can access the results as they are finalised by going to the website HERE.

You may be interested to learn that the Eden-Monaro electorate, of which the Yass Valley is a part, contains 116,468 eligible voters. As at the time of writing (11am Monday 23rd May), 100 per cent of the ballot papers had been counted, with 7,730 postal vote envelopes yet to be processed.

That said, it is safe to say that Kristy McBain, the Labor candidate, has been returned with 43.70 per cent of the vote, with Jerry Nockles, the Liberal candidate, achieving 32.29 per cent of the vote. Vivian Harris of The Greens came third, having achieved 8.93 percent of the vote.
