COVID-Disrupts-Yass-Valley-Council

Last week the Yass Valley Council announced, via its Facebook page, that it is experiencing staff shortages due to COVID. This is a sad reminder that the pandemic isn’t something “out there”: it’s real and it’s amongst us.

COVID statistics for the 7th April 2022 alone showed that for the Southern NSW Local Health District (of which Yass is a part), there were 212 positive PCR tests and 303 positive RATs, giving us a total of 515 cases. Over the last four weeks there have been 3,777 positive COVID cases in our local health district, and of this number, 217 have been in the Yass Valley. While this number might seem manageable now, we know only too well that it can climb exponentially and severely disrupt trade, services, and social networks.

The Council has asked for people’s patience at this time. Further, it has asked that people submit their enquiries via email or over the phone during this time, rather than visiting the Council offices.

The Council can be reached by telephone on 6226 1477, or by emailing them at: council@yass.nsw.gov.au.
