Last week, Member for Eden-Monaro and Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories Kristy McBain advised that the 2022-23 Volunteer Grants – Families and Communities Program are now available for volunteer organisations.

Volunteer Grants support the work of local community organisations with a focus on the inclusion of vulnerable people and promoting participation in volunteering.

There is $66,225 in total available for Eden-Monaro not-for-profit organisations whose workforce consists of at least 40 per cent volunteers. Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 will be available to assist eligible community organisations.

The funds can assist with items such as small portable equipment purchases, contributions towards the cost of training volunteers, reimbursement of fuel costs for volunteers and undertaking background screening checks for volunteers.

How to apply: Read the grant guidelines (2022-23 Volunteer Grant Guidelines) to make sure that your organisation and activities are eligible, then complete the expression of interest form (Expression of Interest Form).

Applicants are asked to submit their expression of interest to Ms McBain’s office before Sunday 25th September 2022. The applications will be assessed by a local committee. Successful EOI applicants will then be invited to submit a formal application to the Department of Social Services.

If you have any questions, Ms McBain invites you to contact her office by email at: Kristy.McBain.MP@aph.gov.au, or phone her office on 6284 2442.
